Trainer Anne Corrigan began her long history in training dogs at the age of 9 with her first dog, a beagle mix named 'Abdias'. They were regular visitors to retirement homes in her home town of Chatham, Ma., long before animal visiting programs were started. As a pastime she would set up obstacle courses in her family's back yard and train the dogs of the neighborhood over jumps and up ramps, long before the sport of agility was invented. She soon began volunteering at a local animal hospital and at the age of 17, purchased her first AKC purebred dog, a Vizsla named 'Pipers Spring Buck'. She soon began competing in AKC conformation shows, obedience trials, matches and field trials. From there she learned about breeding, grooming and handling many breeds of dogs while working at a local kennel and grooming salon. She has won many titles and placements in competitions of all types and has competed in several National events. She continues to show, breed, train and exhibit her own Vizslas and Jack Russell Terrier. She is also an experienced canine foster mom and has an adopted dog from Doberman Rescue. She received her Agility Instructors Certification at White Mountain Agility School, whitemountainagility.tripod.com/ She is an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator (#7825AKC). www.akc.org/ a member of Cape Cod Kennel Club www.capecodkc.org/ Her training article has been published in issues of The Sampson Fund for Animal Care newsletters. www.sampsonfund.org As a kennel manager and groomer for over 25 years she has studied dog behavior from her early childhood.
